Final Exam Flyer

Picture

Design

For this exhibit, I made a digital display for the final examinations deadline Spring 2020.

Contrast: I put a black border around the top text to make it stand out from the background and added a Drop Shadow under the text below it. I also placed a transparent black box behind the text so that the text could stand out from the background more.

Repetition: I made the top text the same color as the pencil that the student is holding in their mouth, as well as making the bottom text the same color as her shirt and the overall bright atmosphere of the background image.

Alignment: I made the bottom text left-aligned with the top text a little bit moved to the left in order to wrap it around the front of the student's arms. I also wanted to align the text left to match where the student is looking.

Proximity: I placed the top and bottom text next to each other because "you're almost there" and the information for Final Examinations are connected. I also had the text near the student's face, emphasizing the anticipation and anxiety of Finals.

Font Choice: I chose the Phosphate Inline font for the top text and the Rockwell Regular font for the bottom text.

Photoshop

First, I created a 1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels tall file in Photoshop and found a image on Pixabay of a student studying. Then, I scaled the image bigger and added the Phosphate Inline text, turning it into a Smart Object so that I could warp it in Photoshop. Afterwards, I added the rest of the text, adding a Drop Shadow to it.  I also painted over the chair using a Mask behind the student so that it was the same color as the wall in the image so that it wasn't distracting. I also placed a transparent black box behind the text so that the text could stand out from the background more.
